What Ben is saying is so true. As above so below for the hermetic, and for the Buddhist it is understanding the nature of beings and the cause and effect of it...
I believe as a Buddhist the forces of magnetism in all things cling to degrees of what some may call evil or good. This is the way of things. To be critical of a paper or thesis that is out of the loop of reality or just off by a little is important to the advancement of science and the facts that help us get it right.
Without the argumentative paper to challenge everything we might as well dig or own graves now and call it a life...
Everything has a process and so best to study learn, ask questions, and listen until we become wise enough to be part of the conversation. A wise professor once told me, "if you want to be in the conversation we have to do the work."
